Wednesday Evening Runs (Winter)

Pat Sheeley is putting together a Wednesday Evening Run during the Winter at SUNY NP.

Time: 6pm
Location: In front of the SUNY NP Wellness Center
Distance: 4-6 miles

From Pat:
“Pace will be determined by amount of people who show. It’s not a race.
In March, we will start doing some tempo training but for now it’s basically just a casual run to get miles in.”

If you’re on Facebook please join the Shawangunk Wednesday/Friday Night Running Workouts Group for updates

Some highlights from the club meeting

Thanks to everyone who attended the meeting last night. I think we had a fantastic turn out and lots of ideas.

First, it was decided that the club would become an official member of the Road Runners Club of America. We will begin the process and paperwork and hopefully become official soon. We also had to chose board members as part of the process. The following are the board members for 2015…
President: Steve Schallenkamp
Vice President: Beth Glace
Treasurer: Dan Freedman
Secretary: Greg Cecere
Technology: Christopher Regan

We will keep people posted on the progress and when we officially open up sign up for membership.

It was decided to continue the Youth Track Club and more details about this years sessions will be available in the near future.

I continue to work on chip timing for the group. I’ve been learning during the process and hopefully it’ll be ready for primetime for our races this year.

Club Meeting this Friday 1/30

To all Shawangunk Runners:
Hey everyone, a reminder that we have a meeting this Friday at SUNY New Paltz, immediately following the track workout. Pizza will be served.
We absolutely need to discuss a proposal to become affiliated with the Road Runners Club of America, and the adoption of appropriate bylaws. We must decide what to do with the Youth XC Track and XC programs, since the former coach, Alan Serrano has moved. Additionally, we have to set dates for all 2015 club races.
Please, please try to attend, we need the support of as many runners as possible!
Thank you,
Beth

Happy Holidays!

After The Leaves Have Fallen Results

We had a magnificent November day in Minnewaska State Park with partly cloudy skies, temperatures in the low 50’s and no precipitation. With a change to a Half Marathon course we had over a 100 runner increase from last year. 315 people crossed the finish line and received their finisher glass.

I’d like to thank runners for participating, all the volunteers who gave their time without which we couldn’t put on a successful race, and of course Steve Schallenkamp the race director. It takes a lot of time and effort both behind the scenes and day of to put on a race. Luckily the Shawangunk Runners have a great group to make it possible.

Charlotte & Roger Kopp were out on the course taking pictures as well as Bob Kopac. I’m sure they’ll be working hard on looking through and touching up photos. I’ll get links posted as soon as they are ready so keep your eyes peeled for that. Another wonderful set of people who come out and spend their time to take pictures of our runners.

I had a few issues with the timing but have done my best. Please find the results here – Results
* If there are any corrections please email me and I’ll see what needs to be done.

Thank you once again and we look forward to the 2015 race season

After The Leaves Training Run (10/24 @ 3:30pm)

A few people are getting together to do part of the After The Leaves course as a training run on Friday 10/24. We’ll meet at the top of Minnewaska a little before 3:30pm where the race will start. The plan is to skip the first out and back loop and head out towards Lake Awosting but instead of going around it like the race, since it’s mainly flat, we’ll head straight up to Castle Point, back to Lake Minnewaska and around back to the starting point. Mapped out it looks to be just about 9.4 miles. Please bring your own fluids since there won’t be any on the run.

ATL Training Run

Weather currently looks good with temperatures in the high 50’s and cloudy.
