NPXCSS#4 Lous Run Results & Fun Run Info

I would have been surprised if we hadn’t had at least one muggy race. Glad to see all the smiling faces for what was the last race in the series Monday night at the Mohonk Preserve. The earlier start time definitely helped with darkness and we have plans to discuss the possibility of changing the times for all races next year.

Thanks again to all the amazing volunteers who came back each week to help out. There would be no races without them. If you seem them at the Fun Run / Awards please make sure to thank them.

Here are the results for Week 4 – 2017NPXCS4 Results

Here is the results of the series showing who was able to get an award – 2017NPXCSS4 Points
(Reminder that to get an award you needed at least 4 points and to have run at least 2 races)

The Fun Run and Awards will be held on Monday August 7th at Garvan’s Gastropub in New Paltz, NY.

Draft results from New Paltz XC Summer Series #3: Undercliff / Overcliff

Well it was a surprisingly cool July evening last night at the Mohonk Preserve. I’m glad to see the new bridge over 44/55 is up and open and looking much better than the old one. Hopefully you all enjoyed a nice run on the carriage roads. With the grand opening of the bridge being today we wanted to make sure we kept it looking as nice as possible and thus ran into some space issues. These will be discussed and resolved for next year.

We have a few unknown runners that I need help finding / resolving in this weeks results. Please take a look through the results and shoot me an email at christopher.regan@gmail.com if you’re missing from the results and know which spot should be yours. Once I get these resolved I’ll get another post up with all the weeks results and point standings.

2017NPXCSS3 Results Draft

Next week is the last official race of the series and we’ll be at Spring Farm Trailhead for Lou’s Run. 4+ miles on single track trails and carriage roads.

New Paltz XC Summer Series Update

Important info first…

Parking for tomorrow’s race (Undercliff/Overcliff) at West Trapps Bridge is in the West Trapps Parking lot or the Mohonk Preserve Visitors Center. There is absolutely NO parking on 44/55. Not only will you be towed, at your own expense, but you’ll put our reputation in jeopardy possibly causing us to no longer host races at Mohonk Preserve. A shuttle should be running from the Visitors Center to the bridge but there’s also a short hike up. It would be a good warmup. Please carpool and arrive early to reduce stress on both yourself and parking. Thanks!

Sorry for the strict tone but had to make sure we got that info out there. 🙂

I’m still struggling with a single issue related to a single racer from Week 1 and the Age Groups. I’ve attached the current results and point standings for the series below.

Week 1: Pattersons Pellet – 2017NPXCS1 Results
Week 2: Blueberry Run – 2017NPXCS2 Results

Point Standings through 2 races – Week 2 Point Standings

See you tomorrow night!

Blueberry Run Draft Results

Well I’d say we got really lucky tonight and avoided any storms. Maybe it gave you a little extra pep to your step while you were out on the course though since they were in the area. Hope you all enjoyed running through the blueberry patches.

Thanks again to all the volunteers who helped make the race happen. Hope you enjoyed the yogurt too which was a nice surprise.

Here is the initial draft of this weeks results. I think we had 1 issue where we recorded bib 195 twice at the finish line so if you see your time missing please contact me at christopher.regan@gmail.com

I also have a question out to the creator of our timing software to resolve some issues with the age groups from last week. Once i get that resolved I’ll post a followup with the point standings for the races so far.

Draft results from New Paltz XC Summer Series #1: Patterson’s Pellet

Hi All!

Hope you had a great time at the kickoff to the Summer Series last night. I’ll admit it was a pretty perfect July night. I think things went smoothly but I have a few things I need to get resolved in the results.

If you can help with any of these please send me an email at christopher.regan@gmail.com

Bib #’s 234 and 236 don’t have owners. Please email me with your full name, gender and age.

We have finisher places #’s 89 and 123 marked as BIB 204.
Place 89 finished at 26:37.30
Place 123 finished at 28:56.10
If you are missing from the results one of these is probably you.

Here are the draft results: 2017NPXCSS1 Results (Draft)

Once i get this resolved I’ll post the final results and the place standings so far.

Thanks
Christopher

Summer Solstice Results

‘The summer night is like a perfection of thought.’ – Wallace Stevens

A lawn devoid of movement slowly started filling with the sounds of friends, old and new, chatting and laughing together. A shimmering lake in the distance, the sounds of maybe a few too many bugs buzzing around our heads, and the sun shining long into the evening. The Shawangunk Runners annual Summer Solstice 14k Trail Run took place on a magnificent evening yesterday. I’m not sure anything bad could have been said about the weather, the race or the people.

First I want to thank the race director Steve Schallenkamp for once again putting together a wonderful race. Also we can’t thank the volunteers enough without whom we wouldn’t be able to put on the race. Hopefully you all thanked them profusely when you saw them.

Personally I want to thank all those who didn’t mind that I forgot their names during bib pickup. I find it amazing how quickly my mind blanks when I’m a little stressed.

I hope you all will come back next year and/or join us for some of our other races (below).

2017 Summer Solstice 14k Trail Run Final Info

The Summer Solstice Run is this Wednesday!

We wanted to make you aware of a few things to make it an enjoyable evening.

The race is Sold Out and there will be no day of registration if any of your friends are asking.

Race Info
———
BIB Pickup Opens: 5:00pm

Race Start: 6:30pm

Parking: Minnewaska charges $10 per car entry. Empire State Passport is accepted but please do not purchase one when entering the park. This year we’re implementing a new parking plan. Single occupant vehicles will be directed to park in the lower awosting lot. Shuttles will be running from the bottom to the top. There will be a sign near the bathroom building to line up and the shuttles will have a sign in the window stating they are a race shuttle. Cars of 2 & more will be able to park in the upper lots. Please car pool to save money, save parking spots, and get to park near the race start.

Course: Start near the scenic view of Lake Minnewaska near the parking area. Head down the hill and go left to stay on Red. Make a right onto the Blue trail (@.35) and follow it up and over Castle Point (@3.5). After the descent you continue on blue until you hit Black (@4.75) which continues straight. Continue straight on Black until it turns to the Green Trail (@5.2). Take the Green trail all the way back to the “beach” section of Lake Minnewaska (@8.25) where you go left back up the hill to the finish near where you started. Note: estimates are based off GPS and are most likely off a bit.

Water Stops: There will be 3 water stops (only water). One @ 2 miles after the start, one at the top of Castle Point (@3.5) and one at the intersection of the Green & Black Trail (@5.2)

Course Markings: Course will be marked with flour arrows and cones to help guide you.

Post Race: Please pick up your finishers towel after you cross the finish line. There will be water available, wraps, bagels, watermelon, cookies and Gatorade at finish while they last.

Final comment: We need to be cleaned/packed up and out of the park by 9pm. If you feel you need extra time to run (ex. you’ll need over 2 hours, finishing after 8:30) please get with a volunteer after you’ve picked up your bib and we’ll work with you to make it a stress free evening. This will include things like starting early, wearing your bib backwards (no numbers showing), self timing (preferably with a watch) and going through a separate chute at the finish line.

2017 Summer Solstice 14k Trail Run

Hi Runners!

So we’re 41 days away from this years Summer Solstice 14K Trail Run at Minnewaska State Park. Registration has been moving along but wanted to give everyone a heads up as to where the registration links are located.

Online: https://www.zippyreg.com/online_reg/registration.php?eventID=908

Mail-In: https://shawangunkrunners.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/2017-Summer-Solstice-Registration.pdf

In communicating with Minnewaska we’ve decided to cap the race at 275 entries this year. We ask that all runners try their best to car pool to save space as well as save yourselves some money since it’s $10 to get into the park per car.

Having just run Rock The Ridge I can say that the carriage roads are in great condition and it should be a wonderful evening of running.
