Some Upcoming Races…

Hello Runners!

Can you believe this weather? I mean it’s it’s going to be over 70 degrees this week. I ran outside today and it was magnificent. Hope you are all keeping up with your training over these winter months cause we have some upcoming races we want you to know about. These are great events and a good start to the race season.

There, currently, is no day of registration. The course should be in great shape with the mild winter we’ve had. Come out and support Mohonk Preserve.

New Paltz XC Summer Series #4: Blueberry Run Results

Another great night at Minnewaska last night for the Blueberry Run. Storms held off and it cooled down slightly before the run. We had 200 finishers for the Adult race which clocked in around 3.6 miles. That was a 10% increase in finishers over last year. We also had record turnout for the kids races with 40 participants.

Series Awards can be found here -> Series Awards
* Bolded runners will receive an award at next weeks Fun Run & Awards ceremony. You needed to run at least 2 races and obtain 4 or more points to receive an award.

Overall registration for the series this year was up over 25% from last year. Thank you all for your continued support of the Shawangunk Runners races. We hope you enjoyed each night. Mother Nature was good to us this year with dry and not too hot weather for each night.

We want to thank all the race directors…
Undercliff / Overcliff: Steve Schallenkamp
Lou’s Run: Beth Glace
Patterson’s Pellet: Patrick Sheeley
Blueberry Run: Mendy Taylor

We also couldn’t put on this series without the help of numerous volunteers who help with registration, food prep, water stations, finish lines & sweep. They have our highest gratitude for the time they give to make our races great.

The Fun Run & Awards Ceremony will be at the Old Dutch Reformed Church on Huguenot Street in New Paltz, NY. The run will start at 7 and you can run as far as you like on the Rail Trail as long as you make it back in time for awards.

Looking forward to seeing everyone next week! Thank you again

New Paltz XC Summer Series #3 – Pattersons Pellet Results

While it wasn’t gorgeous weather I think it was much better than we expected last night at Minnewaska. I hope everyone had a great run. We once again had a record # of finishers! Glad to see so many people getting out and running in a beautiful place.

2014 Rock and Snow “Bridge 2 Bridge” 5 Mile Run Results

I’m not sure we could have had a better early August morning for the 2014 Rock and Snow “Bridge 2 Bridge” 5 Mile Run benefiting the Mohonk Preserve. There was a lot of good and positive energy at the Spring Farm Pavilion and lots of smiles. Everyone I talked to loved the course and, of course, the beauty they were running in. I personally could have done without the hill at mile 2 though. 🙂

As always, a race would be nothing without the tremendous effort of the volunteers. I’d like to personally thank all those out on the course making sure people went the right way, the people at the water stop, the finish line crew and all those others who helped before, during, and after the race.

There was also plenty of food to fuel the runners and I’d like to thank Yvonne for making the Veggie Salad. I may have eaten a few more cookies than I should have…oh well.

Here are the results from this morning – Results

Thanks again to all the runners and the volunteers!

2014 New Paltz Summer XC Series Finale

MugsLast night saw the conclusion of the 2014 Summer Cross Country Series. Another wonderful night for everyone to go out and run the distance of their choice without that pesky clock or others to race against. Even I, the timer, got to leave the computer in the car and go for a nice 8 mile run. We had beautiful mugs for awards this year designed and hand crafted by Solveig Comer of Most Precious Pottery.

I’d like to thank all the amazing volunteers, without them we wouldn’t be able to attend to all you racers. A special thanks goes out to Beth Glace, Steve Schallenkamp, Christine Kelton & Mendy Taylor who were the race directors for the 4 races. It takes a lot of time and effort to put those races on and I’m thankful we have such a wonderful group of leaders.

I’d also like to thank Charlotte Kopp for taking pictures at the races. She recently posted up her pictures from last weeks Blueberry Run – Photos

Finally I’d like to put a plug in for the Rock and Snow “Bridge 2 Bridge” Run that is coming up on Saturday August 9th, 2014.  It’s a benefit run for the Mohonk Preserve. There is no day of registration so make sure you sign up early.

After The Leaves will be coming up in November and is the last of the Shawangunk Runners races for the year. Keep an eye out for a post on that.

Thanks again!
